I don't really use this so I'm moving all of my blogging to MySpace for now.  Finally a consolidated place for me.  This will probably stick around for the potential of commenting on other people's xangas maybe.

Dying for a Heart

How time flies by...

So I realized that it has been a super long time since I've actually updated anything on here.  So sad.  So what's happened since May...

Zach and I have been heavily searching for a house since we've had to get out of our apartment with the end of our lease coming up.  So now we're done with apartments and have moved into our new house!  SO EXCITING!!!  You have no idea until you've moved into your own.  It's just crazy and awesome!  We have totally been loving having the extra space.  Now I have an official office for my Mary Kay.  It's not done yet though because we had to redo a wall (which is now done) and paint (which will happen in these next few days).  I'm so excited to finally have a space for that because I think it'll really help me focus.  It also helps that our kitchen is set up in such a way that the dishes and everything else in there is hidden so I won't feel so guilty about not doing that during work time.  Zach also has an office, which we already have painted green.  It's awesome for him, set up with his desk and the couch that he built.  We got a new living room set, which is beautiful!  So the old couch went into Zach's office.  We've already enjoyed having that in there!  And our bedroom is bigger.  I didn't really realize it would be until we had stuff set up and saw how much space there was around the bed.  So anyway, house stuff is good.  We just have to work our tails off now so that we can continue to afford it!

I traveled all of July - mostly church stuff.  I went on a servant event with 4 senior high boys, which is interesting in and of itself.  We went to Camp Luther in northern WI and had a GREAT time!  I also went to Orlando, FL for the National Lutheran Youth Workers Conference and saw Kaja, one of my great friends from CSP.  Here's a picture of us there:

It was SO great getting to see her since she's in Iowa now and I barely see her!  But anyway, then I flew straight to Dallas for Mary Kay Seminar.  Here's a picture from there:

It was really incredible.  I didn't go on stage at all for recognition, but that'll change this next year.  It's a lot more fun being on stage than sitting in the stands.  At least I was in the arena - in Hall A you just see everything on screens instead of seeing it live!  Afterward, I had a couple days to rest before heading to Camp Perkins in Idaho to be a Spiritual Life Leader for a week.  Zach and I brought out 3 youth with us too.  It was very cool and a great time for us to relax as well as we visited the place where we met and got married!

So that was pretty much all of my excitement.  The summer flew by and now the kiddos are back in school here at King of Kings.  It's so great having all the noise back again!  During my first summer here, I never thought I would get anything done with the kids here, but it's so great when they are here!  It really livens up the place and gives me more energy and motivation to get stuff done!  Speaking of getting stuff done, I better get to it!

Hope you're all having an awesome day!  Maybe I'll try to update more regularly...

Man, I was getting better at keeping things updated, but then everything just...I don't know...something...

Anyway, life is still busy. This week I'm switching to a new schedule. I'm spending part of Wednesday (sometimes all of Wednesday if I don't have any extra events going on during the week) and all day Thursday at King of Kings (and of course Sunday morning too) and then the rest of the week I'm spending on Mary Kay. Well, the rest meaning when I don't have other youth events going on and everything. I usually have about one youth event a week whether it's for the youth or a meeting of some sort. So yea, I'm keeping real busy yet. I'm enjoying my job at KOK, but it's just so hard to get everything accomplished. It's not a part-time job by any stretch of imagination, but I'm trying to fit it in that time slot because Zach and I can't afford for me to put in too much extra time that I'm not getting paid for. It's a hard balance, but once summer comes, it'll be a little bit better at least, but not much. Especially since we are switching to weekly events once summer comes! Eek! The summer is going to go by way too fast...especially July. Have I posted what that month is going to be like yet? Well, if I haven't here it is...

The first week I'll be here (yay!). Then the second week I'm at Camp Luther for the senior high servant event. I come back for only half a week and then I'm gone to Orlando for the National Lutheran Youth Workers Conference. From Orlando I fly to Dallas for Mary Kay Seminar. So I'm gone for a week between those two things and come back for the second half of VBS. But then after that half a week, I fly out to Idaho to Camp Perkins for a week. Then I'm back...FINALLY! I don't know what I'm thinking putting all of this together, but oh well. It's how life goes! I'm just going to be so glad to see August so I can rest! Well, I'll be getting geared up for the school season again. It'll all be real interesting!

My Mary Kay is going well. Still working at getting back on the ball after taking some time off with mom's surgery and everything else that has been happening. What I would like to do is get 6 recruits this month and head into DIQ (Director in Qualification) starting June 1. And then get the rest in June so I can walk across the stage at Seminar as a new Director and get a beautiful ring too! Not to mention the big commission checks and all of the money from all the selling I'd be doing too! It's a dream right now that I'm working on. I handed out my business card with a sample to someone today. I have been working up to it lately so I was excited. Such a nice lady that was bagging her groceries at Cub at the same time as me. She had a really cute little boy too that was making a lot of noise to get recognized! It was great. I really hope that she enjoys the product and gives me a call! I really do love this business - sharing with people to enrich their lives. What a great mission! If anyone wants to join me on my quest or host a party, just let me know! You can even host a web party if you don't live in the Twin Cities.

I mentioned my mom earlier and I want to let everyone know that she is doing great! I just spoke with her last night and it was so good to hear her voice. Since she's had the pacemaker put in, it's just been steady improvement. I love my mom so much and I'm so delighted that she's doing better! My dad's job on the other hand is still in limbo. He was told that he'll be working the clean up crew until May 15. After that he'll be out of a job unless someone buys the mill and there are a few groups looking at it. On Monday he's interviewing for a job in Ashland. I hope it goes great! He's so amazing and so talented that I can't see him not doing fantastic. He's going to knock their socks off! I hope the mill gets sold though so they can stay in town and not have to worry about getting an apartment for him and maybe moving completely. It would just make things easier anyway.

Well, I've written a bit about everything. I hope it's worthy of lots of comments! It pretty much sums up everything that is going on right now!

Information

Unhappiness in relationships, according to Dr. Gary Chapman, is often due to the fact that we speak different love languages. Sometimes we don't understand our partner's requirements, or even our own. We all have a "love tank" that needs to be filled in order for us to express love to others, but there are different means by which our tank can be filled, and there are different ways that we can express love to others.

Take the quiz

I had left things kind of gloomy with my last post so I figured I should let everyone know what's happening now. Here's the story with my mom...

Last week Sunday, she started getting an irregular heartbeat. On Monday, she went in for her cardio rehab that they were starting her on. While exercising, her heart rate and blood pressure dropped (for those of you who don't realize the problem, it's supposed to go up not down). So they stopped things and had her rest - everything was fine. So they had her try it again and the same thing happened! So she was hooked up to a monitor for several hours then to see if everything was alright. Well, the doctors were satisfied and sent her home, but they sent her home with a device that could record the episodes she was having with her heart.

So on Monday night, they recorded 3 episodes and sent them in over the phone. Didn't hear back at all so figured everything must be alright. On Tuesday, they recorded 3 more and sent them in. They still weren't hearing back from the doctor which they thought was really weird. So they called the doctor and found out that the doctor had not been receiving the information. The doctor checked on things and called my parents a half hour later telling them to get my mom into the emergency room immediately, that they were sending an ambulance from Marshfield to come get her. So they just grabbed her purse and went out the door. Once there and settled, my dad returned home to pack their things and that's when he called my sister and I, hence the information in my last post.

While in the ambulance driving to Marshfield, my mom arrested several times. The first time they had to shock her back, but the second time she came back on her own. I think it happened one more time, but I don't remember the details. It was so scary to hear this. If they hadn't called the doctor earlier in the day, she might have arrested at home that night and might not have come back! That scares me so much! When down in Marshfield, they hooked her up to an external pacemaker for the night and it did kick in several times. So on Wednesday morning, they put in a pacemaker. The crazy thing is that they didn't communicate to my dad when she was done with the surgery so he' s getting worried about things taking so long and she's worried because he hasn't come up to the room to see her yet.

But now everything is better again. Mom finally has an appetite (which she hasn't really since the valve had been replaced) and she doesn't get so winded doing things. I'm just so happy that she's alright. The weird thing is that when the first surgery was done, I didn't feel the huge burden lift off me. I didn't feel that until after the pacemaker was installed. It was like an intuitive thing where I knew that she wasn't completely alright yet. It's so weird, but I finally feel calm about things, like I know everything is good now. Zach and I are going to visit mom and dad on Friday and Saturday (at least I am, we're not quite sure about Zach yet). It'll be so good to see them. It's amazing how things change and you just realize how important your family is and how much you need to see them, even if just for one night.

I know this is already long, but I want to give you an update about my dad's job. The paper mill where he works officially closed on Saturday. Dad still has a job as part of the clean up crew. There's this crew that is going to be working for the next 4-6 weeks cleaning up the mill real good. They are hoping it will sell during this time because if it doesn't, my dad will be out of a job. He's already looking for another job, but the one he found is in Weston I think, which is by Wausau (about 2 hours from home). So if he got that job, he would probably live down there during the week and go home to Park Falls on the weekend. It's sad that they would need to do that, but he's getting sort of close to retirement so it wouldn't be like doing it for another 30 years, like at the paper mill. The job sounds like it's exactly what he was doing at the paper mill so it might be a perfect fit! Things would definitely be easier though if the paper mill was sold so he could have a job there again. We'll see how things turn out.

One of the most amazing pieces that came out of this was hearing my dad express his faith. It makes me tear up just thinking about it. When I spoke with him on Thursday evening, it was amazing. He was telling me how God was really looking over them throughout it all and just how much he had his prayers answered by God. My family has never really been verbal on things like this. We definitely express our love for one another through physical touch and so to hear all of this was just so touching. Beautiful! Praise God!
